Nicholas “Niko” K. Anastasiou

Nicholas “Niko” K. Anastasiou, of Metairie, Louisiana, entered into God’s Heavenly Kingdom on September 13, 2021 at the age of 42. He was born on September 20, 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  He returned to the New Orleans area at the age of 18, where he has worked in the maritime sector. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, and making people happy. Niko was a protector and would give you the shirt off his back. We will miss his sense of humor, jovial personality, his contagious laugh, his love, generosity, and devotion to his family and friends. To know Niko was to know a man of genuine kindness and generosity. He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

He is survived by his adoring parents, Maria and Konstantinos “Kosta” Anastasiou; his aunts, Paula Vasilakos (John), Joanna Arahovitis (Nick); an uncle, Dimitri Anastasiou (Eugenia); his cousins, Vlasis E. Anastasiou (Julia), Denise Ioannou (Michael), Vlasis D. Anastasiou, Georgia Kovner (Nick), Christina Imperiale (Michael), George Arahovitis, Dimitra Kountouroudas Chouliaris, Kostas Chouliaris, Alex Kountouroudas, and Irini Chouliaris; numerous great-aunts; great-nephews; and great-nieces. He is the godfather of two, Panagiotis L. Giannatos and Leftheri Karasoulis.  Niko’s family and friends will forever cherish his memory. 

A funeral service was held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.  Niko was laid to rest in St. Louis Number 3 Cemetery in New Orleans.  Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
