Obituary of Raymond Patrick Wetta Sr.
Raymond Patrick Wetta Sr. of Slidell, Louisiana passed away on his birthday, December 6, 2019 at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on December 6, 1932 to the late Anna Senac Wetta and Joseph Jefferson Wetta. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ann Piglia Wetta. He is the loving father of Raymond Wetta Jr. (Suzanne), Robin Johnson (Dennis), Anthony Wetta (Debbie), Julie Keener (Jud Bermudez), and Andrea Main (Carlton). He is the cherished grandfather of Richard Wetta, Matthew Wetta, Douglas Wetta, David Wetta, Jillian Marinovic, Blake Main, Jordan Keener, Gavin Main, Megan Wetta, Staci Johnson, Alicia Johnson, Austin Main, and Michael Wetta; great-grandfather of Juliana Marinovic, Adaline Marinovic , Emerson Marinovic, Austin Wetta, Jolie Grace Wetta, and Lydia Wetta; and step-grandfather of Samuel Wagner and Caroline Wagner. He is the brother of Dan Wetta, Anna Marie Dauterive, Joseph Wetta, and the late Joan Ward. Raymond proudly and bravely served in the United States Navy and retired from the City of New Orleans after 36 years of service as a housing inspector. Raymond was an experienced cabinet maker and loved woodworking and carpentry. He was skilled at art, as seen in his many sketches and paintings. He also enjoyed music and playing his harmonica and saxophone. Raymond was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial followed by Military Honors will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Audubon Funeral Home located at 61101 Highway 11 in Slidell. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A private Graveside Service will take place on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Raymond's memory to the Melanoma Research Foundation.
