Obituary of Jennifer Elisabeth Seelig Berning

Jennifer Elisabeth Seelig Berning passed away on February 14, 2021 at the young age of 46. Jennifer was born March 6, 1974 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Phillip Seelig and the late Lieselotte Seelig. JJ, as she was affectionately called by Trey, is survived by her husband Robert H. “Trey” Berning III; son, Robert Gavin Berning; daughter, Sarah Della Elisabeth Berning; son, Cooper Cole Berning; son, Gunner Vaughn Berning; sister, Deborah Seelig; and niece, Micayla Seelig. She is preceded in death by her mother, Leiselotte Albrich Seelig.

Jennifer attended Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, LA, graduating in 1992. Jennifer went on to study nursing at LSU Health Sciences and graduated with her BSN. Jennifer dedicated her life to helping others as a passionate nurse specializing in Cardiac Intensive Care at Ochsner Hospital, where she spent her 20-year career.

Jennifer and Trey met in May of 2000 and would be sharing their twenty-first anniversary together this August 2021. Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, nurse, and avid gardener and outdoors person. Jennifer's only dedication was to her family. She never needed a night out with girls. She would always rather choose to be home with Trey and the children. She was a magnificent person with the most beautiful and honest soul. Jennifer's love was unwavering and her charity was effortless. She was truly a good person. Jennifer loved to travel with Trey and their children around the country, especially to remote desert areas in the Southwest where she found peace surrounded by native lands, wildlife, and natural beauty. Jennifer will be missed badly by all those she touched. Jennifer loved unconditionally until the day she died. “We love you Mommy.”
