Obituary of Linda Mae Stuart Voyles

Linda Mae Stuart Voyles was born on November 4, 1943, in Seattle, Washington.  She departed this life on June 6, 2021, at the age of 77. 

Daughter of the late Edna Mae Thompson Stuart and Edward Stuart. Granddaughter of the late Mae Reish Thompson and A. Frank Thompson and Luvinia Zimmerman Stuart and Edward Allan Stuart.

Mother of Russell Truman Voyles (Rebecca) and Richard Voyles (Danielle).  Grandmother of Alexandra Voyles Smith (Rory), Tyler Voyles, and Grant Voyles.  Step-great-grandmother to Adriel Smith and foster great-grandmother to Trevor, Kayden, and Tatum.

Linda was a graduate of Manual Dominguez High School in Paramount, CA and attended Compton College in Compton, CA where she met her future husband, Richard T. Voyles.  Richard and Linda were married on April 28, 1962.

A lifelong Presbyterian following her Scottish heritage, Linda was a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she taught Sunday school.  After becoming a member of Covington Presbyterian Church in Covington, Louisiana, Linda became a Deacon and assisted with Vacation Bible School and was an officer in the Women's Guild.

Linda was one of the founding members of the Homemakers Club in her New Orleans neighborhood. She was a member and former President of the New Orleans First African Violet Society.

Linda retired from the Louisiana Gas Service.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Covington Presbyterian Church located at 222 S.
