Obituary of Lawrence O. Barrois
Lawrence O. Barrois, aka “Pops” and “LB,” of Lacombe, Louisiana, passed away on June 16, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 70. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 9, 1950. Lawrence leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, Kim Keller Barrois; two daughters, Brandi Najolia (Joey) and Renee Robin (Kelly Jr.); seven grandchildren: Gabriel, Logan, and Nathan Najolia, Devon Carr, Kelly III, Hannah, and Holly Robin; siblings, Joseph Barrois Jr. (Sharon), John Barrois (Patricia), Sharon Troutt, and Michelle Barrois-Henderson; and stepmother, Lucille Barrois. He will also be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Barrois Sr.; mother, Joyce Dearman; stepfather, Odell Dearman; and siblings, George Barrois, Jack Dearman, and Judy Dearman.
Lawrence graduated from Slidell High School with the Class of ’69. He was employed as a rural mail carrier in Lacombe for 33 years. In his spare time, Lawrence enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of many. Though never boastful, Lawrence prided himself to please “all of the people, all of the time” when he filled his gumbo pot or boiled crawfish to perfection. His culinary skills were always a magnet for a crowd of family and friends. There wasn’t anyone who met Lawrence who didn’t love him. A legacy is planting seeds in a garden that you never get to see. Lawrence’s legacy stretches far beyond his children and grandchildren and he planted seeds in everyone who had the privilege to know him. He will be greatly missed by all.
Lawrence’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Compassus Hospice for their excellent, caring support and the great medical care of the physicians and nurses at Ochsner Hospital.
