Albert "Bobby" Simmons, of Slidell, Louisiana, entered into the loving arms of the Lord to the sound of fireworks and surrounded by the love of his family on July 4, 2021 at the age of 89. He was a St. Patrick’s Day baby, born on March 17, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to his loving parents, the late Bert Simmons and Albertine Navarro Hethcoat Simmons. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Betty Ubas Simmons. Bobby is the adored father of the late Frederick "Fred" Ubas (Terri Ubas), the late Brenda"Sissy" Ubas Kreger (Pete Kreger), Steedie Ubas (Gina Ubas), Mindy Ubas Marrione (Chris Marrione), Cindy Couture, Debbie Sibley (the late Lenn Sibley);and Alyson Ward (Virgil Ward) and loving brother of Henry Hethcoat (Ena Hethcoat), the late Peter Hethcoat, and Joseph Hethcoat. He also leaves behind, to cherish his memory, many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly.
After attending school in the French Quarter, Bobby worked as a commercial fisherman and trapper, spending most of his life and career on the bayous of Louisiana, owning his own oyster leases. He also worked as a charter boat chef and eventually retired from the St. Tammany Parish School Board System. Bobby loved bowling, cooking, playing video games, writing poems, and going to the casino. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
