Obituary of Robert Lynn “Bob” Sandifer
The Lord sweetly and peacefully called Robert Lynn “Bob” Sandifer, of Slidell, Louisiana, home on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. He was a young 86 years of age.
Bob is a native of Columbus, Mississippi, and was born on September 3, 1934 to his loving parents, the late Samuel and Rubye Sandifer. He is the brother of the late Douglas Sandifer.
Bob is the beloved husband of 67 years to Catherine Mullins Sandifer and cherished father of Lisa Gayle Fairley (Wayne), the late Lynn Fisk (Steve), and Robert Lee Sandifer (Sharon). He is the beloved “Pop” to grandchildren Jessica Molinari, Michael Fairley (Bri), Stephen Fisk (Hera), Josh Fisk (Julie), and Sarah Woodson (Tom) and to great-grandchildren Aliza and Oliver Fisk.
After Bob served in the United States Army as a military police officer primarily in Port Whittier, Alaska, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He was then employed as an accountant with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Finance Center. After 35 years of service, he retired in 1992. He then took and passed the CPA exam and opened his own practice, primarily using it as a ministry. Bob was very active in First Baptist Church Slidell as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, bus ministry worker, and a prison ministry volunteer. He loved the Lord with all his might.
Bob also enjoyed his travels to Europe, Turkey, and much of the United States and loved any time that he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob will truly be missed by his cherished wife and all that knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church located at 4141 Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell, LA 70458. A funeral service led by Jim Baham will begin at noon. Bob will be lovingly laid to rest at a graveside service with military honors at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in Whitesand Baptist Church Cemetery located at 159 Whitesand Church Road in Prentis, MS 39474.
