Melvin “Red Digger” Kramer passed away peacefully on the morning of August 30, 2021, at the age of 84 years old. He was born on October 4, 1936, in Violet, Louisiana. He resided in Pearl River, Louisiana, for the past 16 years but remained connected to his St. Bernard roots.
He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and a licensed master plumber for 60 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Julia Ramos Kramer, as well as his only daughter, Kelly Kramer DeHarde, and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Kallie Elise DeHarde, for whom he was always a proud and willing audience to her many dance and cheer performances.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Philomene (Alphonso) Kramer; sister, Edith “BG” (John); and four brothers, Calvin “Brother Fox” (Norma), Ronald (Teta), Jerry, and Allen.
He is also survived by his youngest brother, Gary Kramer (Donna), and their sons, Chad, Douglas, and Lance, whom Red loved like his own. He will also be greatly missed by his wonderful family of nieces and nephews.
At Red’s request, there will not be a service. Interment will be at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
