Obituary of Rev. Wanda Minor Simonton
Rev. Wanda Minor Simonton, beloved wife of the late Samuel Simonton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the age of the 70. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin J. Minor Sr. and Evelyn Bassard (Cassard) Minor.
Wanda is survived by her three children: Brandi J. Boggs (Matt), Christian V. Bowman, and Erik R. Bowman (Cynthia); her three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her brother, Calvin “CJ” Minor Jr. (Mary), and her two sisters, Melanie M Coyle (PJ), and Colleen Minor; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Wanda was very active growing up. She loved playing sports, dancing, gymnastics, listening to music (especially Elvis Presley), and just being with her family and friends. She was also extremely proud of her high school, Francis T. Nicholls, and played an active role on the school’s reunion committee until her peaceful passing. Wanda also earned her diploma from Concordia Seminary. She performed numerous weddings, funerals, and special occasions. She was also a licensed cosmetologist.
Wanda was the type of person that was willing to help anyone who needed help. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at the Covenant Baptist Church located at 890 Robert Blvd. in Slidell, LA 70458 on Saturday, September 18th, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. A funeral services will be held at noon. Interment will take place at St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery on Piety St. in New Orleans following services.
