Obituary of Dorothy “Dot” Mae Hotard Stumpf

Dorothy “Dot” Mae Hotard Stumpf, our precious mother, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the age of 74.  She was born on October 5, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She married Robert Joseph Stumpf (deceased) with whom they had three daughters.  She devoted her life to her children, leaving her position at Louisiana State Troop B when marrying.  She was a lifetime resident of Mandeville, Louisiana for the past 54 years.

She is survived by her three daughters, Debra (John) Hollister, Roberta (Gary) Long, and Donna (Tim) Calamari; five grandchildren, Karlee (Jake) Stephens, Jack, Madison, Matthew, and Preslie; and one great-grandchild, Maevery.

She is also survived by one sister, Patricia “Pat” Ann Hotard Motto, who has since passed away, and one brother, Ferris Patrick Hotard Jr.; two loving nephews, Thomas Motto and Gregory (Beth) Motto; a great-neice, Jessica; and a great-nephew, Joey.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Ferris Patrick Hotard Sr. and Anita Anna Cassisa Hotard.

Her family made up the entirety of her world.  She loved laughing, joking, eating family meals, playing cards, family crawfish boils, and spending time with her family.  She was an avid sports fan and was always watching baseball and football, a true lifetime Saints fan!

Dot was the most selfless, generous, kind, caring, and faithful woman, trusting God’s plan.  She never accepted any help from us or others, but was always the one offering the helping hand.  She loved unconditionally and always put everything in God’s hands.

Family and friends are invited to attend a joint Memorial Service to say a final goodbye to both Dot Stumpf and Pat Motto at Audubon Funeral Home located at 61101 US-11 S Slidell, Louisiana 70458 on October 2, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  A Funeral Mass will begin in the chapel at 11:00 a.m.

Legacy of Love

A mother, a grandmother & great grandmother too,

This is the legacy we have from you.

You taught us love and how to fight,

You gave us strength, you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,

And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another,

Not just as a mother not just as a grandmother.

For all of us you gave your best,

Now the time has come for you to rest.

So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,

Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep
