Obituary of Gerald “Jerry” Paul DesOrmeaux
Gerald “Jerry” Paul DesOrmeaux, of Bush, Louisiana, passed away on September 16, 2021 at the age of 68. He is a native of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, born on July 14, 1953 to his loving parents, Paul Leeward and Mona DesOrmeaux. Gerald is the beloved husband of 49 years to Pauline Fay DesOrmeaux; cherished father of Ryan DesOrmeaux (Loren) and Eric DesOrmeaux (Cherie); proud grandfather of Hunter, Ryder, Isabella, Lainie, Cole, and Luke DesOrmeaux; brother of Peggy Evans (Mike); uncle of Melisa King (Ron), Mason Rasor, Jason Jeanfreau (Valicha) Corey Jeanfreau (Krissy), Jessica Griffin (Chad), Ethan Nicosia (Morgan), Alex Nicosia (Kaye), and the late Mikeal Evans; son-in-law of Gloria Nicosia (the late Buddy Nicosia); and brother-in-law of Kathy Rasor (Mason), Linda Cook (James), and Louis Nicosia (Leslie).
Gerald is a graduate of St. Bernard High School with the Class of 1971. He went on to pursue a career in electrical engineering, later retiring in 2012 from Exxon Mobil after over 30 years in the industry. Gerald enjoyed fishing, home remodels, classic cars, world traveling, and helping others.
A special thank you is expressed by the family for the love and support given by family, friends, and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Jane de Chantal Church in Abita Springs, Louisiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the American Cancer Society are preferred.
