Obituary of Rosario “Ross” Guastella Jr.

Rosario “Ross” Guastella Jr., a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonina and Rosario Guastella Sr. and his brother, Ronald Guastella. Ross is survived by the love of his life - his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Wise Guastella. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Guastella; his children, Karen Milanese (Frank), Rosario Guastella III (Jill), Michael Guastella (Tahiess), and Linda Cerise (Donald); his grandchildren, Courtney Perret (Matthew), Erica Hingle (Joseph), Ashley Milanese, Marisa White (Edward), Dominique Frisard, Ava Guastella, Rosario Guastella IV, and Michael Guastella; and his great-grandchildren, Eva Joan Perret & Joseph Hingle III.

Ross attended Loyola University New Orleans and served eight years in the Air National Guard. He was a retired builder, developer, and owner of many large apartment complexes, hotels, office buildings, and residential subdivision developments in the Greater New Orleans area and Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was an active member of the community and was involved in state and local politics.

To Ross, family was always the number one priority. His favorite pastimes were watching football with the boys and taking his children and grandchildren fishing. Establishing and maintaining traditions were of utmost importance - annual family trips to Disney World, weekly Thursday morning breakfast club meetings with life-long friends, and grand Christmas celebrations that were second to none. His extravagantly themed birthday parties created lasting memories for friends and family and matched his larger-than-life personality. As his father always said, Ross lit up any room he walked into; always making those around him feel loved and welcomed. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Slidell, Louisiana, where Ross was a parishioner. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will follow. Masses are preferred in lieu of flowers. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
