Obituary of Jared McKane Keyworth

Jared McKane Keyworth passed away on October 1, 2021, in the Line of Duty at the age of 42. He is from Denver, Colorado, and resided in Mandeville, Louisiana. Jared is the beloved husband of Crystal (Lirette) Keyworth; cherished father of Logan (14) and Ava (9); and treasured son of Kerry Collins (Scott Gustin) and Jonathan Keyworth (Claudia); loving brother to Jonathan M. Keyworth, Desiree Keyworth, Clachelle Jensen, Tashina Burton, Riley Burton, Jonathan Lirette, and Joshua Boudreaux; and “the fun” uncle to many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Jared was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Collins, Audrey Collins, Harry “Kelly” Keyworth, and Barbara Keyworth.

Jared was a Senior Inspector in his eleventh year with the United States Marshals Service and in his second year with the Investigative Operations Division’s Technical Operations Group (TOG) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prior to this position, he worked with the agency in the District of Colorado (July 2010 to July 2014); Southern District of Florida (July 2014-June 2016); and Eastern District of Louisiana (June 2016 to August 2019). Jared also served in the United States Army from 2004 to 2009, earning numerous awards for his service. In 2004, he was widely photographed leading the riderless horse that accompanied the coffin of the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan during his funeral procession in Washington, DC.

Jared was a respected and dependable law enforcement officer and friend to many in the agency. The Director of the United States Marshals Service noted that “he touched many lives while working in those four locations.” His legacy can be found among the kind words and memories of his co-workers, friends, and family.

In Jared’s down time, he loved being a father and spending time with his family. He enjoyed airsoft with his son and making pancakes for his daughter. Jared will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Audubon Funeral Home located at 61101 Highway 11 in Slidell, LA 70458. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the King located at 22205 Little Creek Road in Mandeville, LA 70471. Jared will be laid to rest at a private burial in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations at https://usmarshalsfund.org/get-involved/donate are preferred.

Thank you to all family, friends, and the U.S. Marshals Service for their love and support.
