Obituary of Stephen Stephen Stefancik

Stephen Francis Stefancik, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on October 5, 2021 at the age of 82. He was born on June 16, 1939 in Linton, Indiana to John Stefancik nd Anna Scecina Stefancik. Stephen is the beloved husband of Margaret Winters Stefancik; devoted father of Patricia “Trish” Darnell (Greg), Alfred “Joe” Stefancik, and Mark Stefancik (Stephanie); proud grandfather of Garrett Darnel, Danica Stefancik, and Bruin Stefancik. He also leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his siblings, Dorothy Duncan, Veronica Weaver, and Frank Stefancik.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Benjamin Stefancik; and his siblings, Mary Hasara,

Juliana Stefancik, John J. Stefancik, Alfred Stefancik, Rudy Stefancik, Theresa Frabutt, and Thomas Stefancik.

Stephen’s determination and strong work ethic led him to earn bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Political Science from Indiana State University. He also bravely and proudly served in the United States Navy, taught high school, and worked several years as a mathematician and computer scientist for the Navy as a civilian employee. After many years of employment, he retired from Lockheed/Martin and served on the St. Tammany Parish Council from 1988- 2021. In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed his membership with the Knights of Columbus, Slidell Elks, and Lockheed/Martin Retirees. His dedication to serving his community was evident.  As a result, he was awarded numerous honors such as: the Alliance for Good Government's Past Presidents and Legislator of the Year awards, the Conservative Political Action Committee's Straight Arrow Award, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans' Order of Saint Louis IX Award. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Slidell, Louisiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. The Stefancik family invites family and friends to join them for refreshments in the church hall at St. Genevieve’s following Mass.
