Alan Henry Auter was born on January 11, 1956 in Birmingham, Alabama, and passed away peacefully at his home in Kiln, Mississippi on Sunday, October 10,2021 at the age of 65. He is the beloved husband of Terri Bellais Auter, whom he married on October 31, 2017; loving father of Caleb Auter (Michele) and Alanna Auter Gleaves (Blake); proud grandfather of Noah Auter, Ava Auter, George Woodford “Woody” Gleaves, and Hayes Gleaves; step-grandfather of Weston, Janson, Jadyn, Autumn, Rylynn, Jessie, Alasia, Kadyn, and Madeline; and brother of Ken Auter, Amy Auter Hatfield, and Robert St. John. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Miriam Frances Noble Auter and Henry F. Auter Jr.
Alan was a graduate of Picayune Memorial High School with the Class of 1974 and attended Pearl River Community College and Mississippi State University, and where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Alan served on the Picayune Police Department and was employed at Stennis Space Center in public affairs. He was a talented musician and will be fondly remembered as “the best drummer his family ever heard.” Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
