Obituary of Patricia Lois Pichon Nunez

Patricia Lois Pichon Nunez, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on October 20, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born March 2, 1935 in Bonfouca, Louisiana to the late Avanelle Charles Pichon and Juanita Marie Galatas Pichon. Patricia was the beloved wife of the late James Jay “Jimmy” Nunez. Cherished mother of the late Leighton James Nunez, Juana Anne Nunez Plaisance, and Lee Durel Nunez (Gwen). Proud grandmother of Jessica Wood, Jennifer Nunez, Jared McCurnin, Colleen McCurnin Mensi, Justin Nunez, Katie Pachmayr, and the late Elisha McCurnin Elijah. She had 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren whom she adored. Caring sister of the late Eunice Faciane, the late Kenneth Pichon, the late Yvonne Hover, Deborah Pichon Clewis and sister-in-law of Edrel Pichon.

 

Patricia was the 1st Queen of the May at Slidell Grammar School. She graduated as Salutatorian from Slidell High School with the Class of 1953. She served as temporary Post Master in Slidell in the 1950’s. She was employed by Mayfield Office Supply and Accounting and the Our Lady of Lourdes school cafeteria. Patricia retired from Neuhausers as an accountant. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Saint Margaret Mary Church, where she contributed her time and talents serving on the Legion of Mary, the Altar Society, as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, as a Lector, and as a member of the Holy Spirit Rosary Cenacle. Patricia was awarded the order of St. Louis King of France Medallion by the Archdioceses of New Orleans. She spent many years as a dedicated homemaker, taking care of her family. Her hobbies included music, dancing, and reading. She will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A rosary service will begin at 11:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church located at 1050 Robert Blvd. Patricia will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery following Mass.
