Obituary of Donald John Landry
Donald John Landry, of Violet, Louisiana, passed away and entered his eternal home through the love of our Lord Jesus Christ on November 19, 2021 at the age of 65. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 12, 1956, to his loving parents, Madeline Landry and the late Dorrés Landry.
Donald is the beloved husband of Catherine Ryan Landry for over 42 years. He is the loving father of Jerry Gillette Jr. (Annette), Donald James Landry (Alicia), Rebecca Johnson (Donnie), and John Paul Landry (Susana). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Victoria Gillette, Colby Gillette, Travis Galloway (Courtney), Dustin Galloway (Hannah), Fable Landry, Gabrielle Villemarette, Angele Shirley, Allison Shirley, Damien Shirley, John Louis Shirley, Denise Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Donnie Johnson Jr., Tevin Johnson, Alyssa Facio (Cody), and Heather Guillot, as well as, his great-grandchildren, Luke and Gracie Lynn Galloway. Donald is survived by many siblings: Dorrés “DJ” Landry (Rhonda), Jolynn Ricks (Clayton), Laurie Smith (Joseph Hood), Lydia Wilson (Billy), Tina Thonn (Larry), Raoul Landry (Brigid), Monique Landry, Robert Landry, and Danielle Brady (Jake). Donald will also be missed by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Calob Michael Gillette and brother, David “Pat” Landry.
Donald bravely served in the United States Navy on the USS John S. McCain during The Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed by the U.S. Gypsum Company for over 37 years and will be sincerely missed by his co-workers. His greatest joy in life was spending quality time with his family and friends. Donald will be significantly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service will begin in the chapel at noon. Immediately following the service, Donald will be laid to rest with military honors in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
