Obituary of Samantha Marie Bertacci
Samantha Marie Bertacci, “The Impossible Girl” traveled in her tardis for the final time, unexpectedly at the age of 31, on Wednesday November 17, 2021 at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indiana. She was a resident of Muncie, Indiana. Sammy is native from the city of Violet, Louisiana and the parish of St. Bernard. In 2005, Katrina moved her to Pearl River, Louisiana until 2008, also the year she proudly graduated from Slidell High School.
Sam was born February 11, 1990 at Lakeside Hospital, loving child of Christopher Charles Bertacci and Angelic Lesley Bertacci. Beloved and cherished middle sister of Heather Marie Hingle (husband, Cory Hingle) and Angel Marie Penton (husband, Jacob Penton). She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Delores Schmiderer “Tee” Hendrix.
Sammy is the niece of Cathy Forsythe (husband, Eric Sr. “Paw Paw Eric”), Charlene“Aunt”Bertacci , Joel Lesley, Kenneth Lesley Jr., Cheryl Nehlig(deceased), and “Katy Bug”(deceased).

She also leaves behind endless loving family and friends. Regrettable, her beloved fur-babies, Clara Bell “Stinky Face” and Ollivander “Ollie” will miss her the most. Sammy also leaves behind her partner and caregiver, Chris Scales and stepkids Austin, Connor, and Chloe Scales.
Preceded in death by maternal grandfathers, Kenneth “The Old Bull” Joseph Lesley Sr. and William “PawPaw Bill” Hendrix and her paternal grandparents, Clara “Granny” Calico Bertacci and Charles Joseph Bertacci.
“Lady Scales of Kerry” lived in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Arkansas throughout the years. She made so many friends no matter where she was, sad to leave but excited and ready for a new journey.
Sammy was a very dramatic child growing up. She had a second degree black belt in Wadō Ryū at Evans Karate School and was an advanced dance student of Kelly’s Dance Studio in Mereaux, LA. She sure was one tough kid. She survived so many downfalls, but had more great times gratefully through Kids Kicking Cancer, Camp Challenge (Miss St. Bernard), Children's Hospital, The Blood Center, Christmas in the Oaks, Lynn Haven Picnic, Boo at the Zoo, and so many other organizations and gatherings throughout the years that she attended. We cannot be grateful enough for all the precious moments it gave us together as a family.
Sammy loved cooking and creating things. She was very talented. Her cooking was award winning. She enjoyed collecting My Little Ponies, tiny kitchens, BizBaz pins (Fizzly Bubbly/Intergalactic Jedi Time Lord), and playing video games. She was an avid Harry Potter and Dr. Who Fanatic, Alton Brown follower, and she loved anything and everything Sailor Moon.
Sammy’s family would like to express thanks to everyone who was part of her journey, especially Stewart Leblanc and his family, for the life you gave Sammy, she got her world back.
You will always be “Our Aunt Moonie” and forever “Our Moon Princess.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life in Sammy’s honor on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
