Obituary of Alan Edward Guenard

Alan Edward Guenard, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on March 1, 2022 at the age of 74.  He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on December 18, 1947 to the late Wilma Isabel See and Wilson Clement Guenard.  Alan is the beloved husband of 35 years to Catherine Miller Guenard; cherished father of Amie Catherine Guenard Nunez, Wilson Taylor Guenard, and Alexandra Kate Guenard ; proud grandfather of Jackson Eli Guenard and Levi Alexander Guenard; and loving brother of Dennis Roy Guenard.

Alan graduated from Slidell High School with the Class of 1965 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from The University of Southwestern Louisiana with the Class of 1974.  He bravely served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Vietnam, Columbus AFB, England AFB, and Dyess AFB.  Alan later retired from for his company, MAG Petro, where he worked as a consultant for offshore production in the oil and gas industry.  

Fishing, cooking, and music were Alan’s passions. Being out on the water, close to nature brought him so much joy. He was a member of the Northshore Fishing Club. A chef at heart, Alan left a legacy of delicious seafood recipes. His jambalaya, gumbo, and corn crab bisque were famous with his friends and family. He even won awards for his corn crab bisque and sundrop cookies. Many days he would be found playing his guitar and singing his favorite oldies and worship songs. He was on the Slidell Vineyard Worship Team for many years and was an usher at Crossfire Church of Slidell. He was truly a man of many talents.

Alan will fondly be remembered for his unwavering faith and character. He was a man of honor, integrity, and truth. Alan lived out his faith with acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion. He was a wonderful and faithful husband and his children were blessed by his strong yet gentle spirit. Alan will be greatly missed by many but will always be remembered for how generous, forgiving, and steadfast he was.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at Crossfire Church located at 2020 Elsie Ave in Slidell.  Alan will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a private graveside service.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Mama Tara Miskito Orphanage in Puerto Lempira Honduras in Alan’s memory are preferred.  Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
