Robert "Robbie" D. Mathis Jr., also affectionately known as "Bullwinkle", "Bulldizzle", and just "Bull", was born on June 7, 1981 as the youngest of four children. Robbie was a natural born athlete who excelled in soccer and basketball. He charmed all that loved him with his smile and sweet, easygoing personality. A few things he enjoyed most were sports (namely the Saints), making people laugh, listening to music, spending time with his beloved friends and family, and his mother's home-cooked meals. "That’s off the hook, Ma!"
Robbie was called home suddenly on the morning of March 11, 2022, ending his worldly struggles. Robert loved many and was loved by many more. His family takes comfort in knowing he has found peace.
He is preceded in death by his best friend, Adam Oster and stepfather, Harold Buss.
He is survived by his loving mother, Karen Buss; father, Robert Mathis; his three siblings, Kelly Miller (John Cherniak), Heather Calmes (Kevin), and Ryan Mathis (Jennifer); seven nieces; two nephews; one great-nephew, who knew him affectionately as "Uncle Bull"; as well as countless friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Nola Southern Grill from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All who are friends of Robert and the Mathis family are welcome to attend. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
