Deborah Rutherford

Obituary of Deborah Boe “Debbie” Rutherford

Deborah Boe “Debbie” Rutherford passed away on the afternoon of May 20, 2022, at the age of 67.  She is survived by her husband of 19 years, James P. “Jimmy” Rutherford Jr. and her three children, Ricky Joseph Hartman, Ryan Charles Hartman, and George Charles Hartman IV.

Debbie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 23, 1954, to Joan Culotta Boe and Joseph P. Boe. She was the oldest of four brothers and sisters.  Debbie resided near New Orleans and worked as a legal assistant for several firms over the course of 43 years.  She enjoyed spending her summers on Lake Pontchartrain and ensured her three sons experienced that as well during their childhoods.

Debbie and Jimmy had been long time friends before finally tying the knot on May 12, 2003.  They spent many lovely years together and enjoyed tending to their grandchildren later in life.  Debbie’s favorite pastime was taking scenic drives along the coast on Sundays with Jimmy.

Debbie was a devoted grandmother who cherished time with her two grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching videos of them playing sports and following their achievements in school.  Aside from her family, her next biggest love was cooking. She was known to share her recipes on a whim and loved family gatherings, because it afforded her the opportunity to prepare wonderful snacks and meals, a favorite being her artichoke balls.  She looked forward to every autumn when her beloved Saints started a new season.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents.  In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her siblings, Lorrie Boe Deano, Tommy (Ann) Boe, and Tammie Boe Deano; their uncle, Stanley Culotta, C.S.C, M.D.; her grandchildren, Palyn Cherie and Chase Tucker Hartman; her stepchildren, Heather (Vincent) Rutherford Catalanotto and Carissa Rutherford Mitchell (Sammy); five step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will share plans for a ceremony celebrating her life at a later date.  All are welcome to attend.  Memories and condolences may be expressed at
