Obituary of Michael Jones

Michael Jones, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 64.  He was a native of New Orleans, LA, born on April 2, 1958 to the late Eva Mae Jones and Malvin Jones.  Michael is the devoted husband of 46 years to Gwendolyn Miller Jones and the loving father of Shawn Jones (Jennifer), Aaron Jones (Veronica), and Desiree Jones Harris (Bo).  He is the proud grandfather of Kaylan (Jose), Victoria, Dakota, Khloe, Avrie, Tyler, and Landen; and the great-grandfather of Kolton.  He also leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his siblings, Alvin Jones, Glenda Necaise, Doyle Jones, and Sheila Wells; his dog, Duke; and an abundance of extended family members and friends whom he loved deeply.

Along with his parents, Michael is also preceded in death by two of his siblings: Ruby Broadhead and Larry Jones.

Michael was a welder by trade and retired with the Boilermakers Local #37 out of New Orleans, LA.  He is also a member of the Carriere Masonic Lodge #445, where he enjoyed working fundraising events for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Michael loved getting together with family and friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as, going on vacations where he could see his family enjoying the memories they made.  He also loved taking trips with his wife, Gwendolyn; his sister-in-law, Linda; and his brother-in-law, Chris, to a variety of different places having the time of his life.  Michael was a Saints fan and enjoyed getting together with loved ones to watch them play. He also loved watching wrestling on TV and loved Classic Rock and Country music.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren perform, whether it be cheer, football, band, or supporting them at school or church events, he would proudly be there with a smile on his face.  Michael was a family guy and would do anything for the ones he loved.  Although he is in a better place, his absence will be missed by everyone that knows and loves him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.  A Funeral Service will begin in the chapel at 4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
