Obituary of Anthony Albert Governale

Anthony Albert Governale, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on June 20, 2022 at the age of 91.  He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on October 18, 1930 to the late Salvadore Governale and Jennie Saccaro Governale.  Anthony leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his daughter, Paula G. Faught (Sherman G. Faught); daughter-in-law, Miriam Governale; four grandchildren, Ramanda Faught Lauga (James), Christy Governale Caparotta (Steve), Savanna Faught Hoglind (Christopher), and Katelyn Governale; four great-grandchildren, Laney Lauga, Emily Lauga, Eliana Caparotta, and Clara Caparotta; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Verlyn Hebert Governale; son, Anthony A. Governale Jr.; and sisters, Catherine Governale Michon and Antoinette Governale Heffron.

Anthony attended Delgado Community College and was an electrician by trade.  He was a member of the Fun for All Social Club and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and watching football. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan.  Anthony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.  A prayer service with Military Honors will begin in the chapel at 4:00 p.m. Anthony will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.  Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
